Ten Built-In Mac Features That Are Easy to Overlook

  1. Quick Look without opening files

Press the spacebar and preview any file directly, whether it is a PDF, image, video, or even ZIP archive.

You can do more than view. You can copy content directly, and even annotate or share from the upper right.

  1. Stop blindly dragging windows into corners

Hold the green button to use the system’s built-in split-screen mode, without installing Magnet.

Drag the mouse to the top of the screen and you can enter Stage Manager directly, with windows automatically grouped.

  1. Spotlight is not just for finding files

Use Command + Space to open Spotlight. Enter units, exchange rates, weather, or even math formulas and it calculates in real time.

If you want to find apps, contacts, mail, or documents, one search covers the whole machine. It is faster than web search.

  1. Turn Safari webpages directly into PDFs

Open any webpage and choose File -> Export as PDF. Save with one click while preserving the original format.

No clipping plugin needed. Articles, webpages, and guides can be saved with maximum efficiency.

  1. Seamless clipboard sharing between iPhone and Mac

Log in with the same Apple ID. Copy text on iPhone, paste directly on Mac.

Text, images, and links all work, truly connecting devices as if they understand each other.

  1. Quickly sign PDFs

Open a PDF with Preview. Click Markup -> Signature. You can enter a signature with the trackpad or camera.

Sign once and save it. Any document can use it later, doubling the efficiency of online contract signing.

  1. Screenshots are more powerful but less known

Command + Shift + 5 opens the screenshot tool, with screen recording, window capture, and timed screenshots all included.

After taking a screenshot, you can annotate directly and choose whether to save to Desktop or clipboard.

  1. Finder file paths can jump directly

In Finder, choose Show Path Bar, or right-click a file and choose Get Info to view the real file path.

Combine it with Command + Shift + G to enter a path and quickly reach any system folder.

  1. Speech-to-text is hidden deep

System Settings -> Keyboard -> enable Dictation. Press Fn twice to dictate directly.

The recognition accuracy is surprisingly high, so you may not need a third-party input method.

  1. Quickly organize the Desktop

Too many Desktop files and do not want to organize manually? Right-click the Desktop -> Use Stacks, and it groups by type automatically.

Files become clean and categorized instantly. No need to wait for a year-end cleaning.
